Sunspel New York pop up May 30, 2013
We’re thrilled to announce our first US pop up store, opening Saturday 1st June 2013 in Manhattan, New York City.
We’ve teamed with our friends at C’H'C’M’ to take over a portion of their Bond Street store, where we’re offering a considered edit of British-made products.
Alongside a carefully chosen selection of our own luxury basics – like the iconic Riviera Polo, new swim shorts, classic Egyptian cotton t-shirts and our luxurious Sea Island Cotton collection - will be an assortment of the finest handcrafted products Britain has to offer: hats from Lock & Co, Liberty-print cotton Boxer Shorts, bench-made leather shoes from Joseph Cheaney & Sons of Northamptonshire and luxurious Cashmere knits from Johnstons of Elgin.
To celebrate our first foray on the other side of the ‘pond’, we’ve also collaborated with designers House Industries and artists Jon Contino and Jen Mussari to create 7 exclusive designs.
These designs will be screen printed in our pop up during a launch event on Saturday June 1st, and sold in the store and online at Sunspel.com from Monday 3rd June. If you’d like to come along to this event, simply send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Founded in 2008 by Sweetu Patel, C’H’C’M’ specialises in classic and contemporary menswear brands from all over the world, and was the ideal partner for Sunspel’s first American pop up shop.
About House Industries
Founded in 1993 by Andy Cruz and Rich Roat, House Industries is known throughout the world for its eclectic typeface collections, elaborate collaborations and far-reaching exploits into consumer products. Their work is defined by an obsessive attention to the smallest details, a rare mechanical ambiance and a genuine love for their subject matter. House Industries have designed 5 exclusive prints for Sunspel.
About Jon Contino
New York native Jon Contino is widely known for his unique style which combines old and new world aesthetics into a modern, minimalist style imitated the world over. His work reveals the influences of historical New York, contemporary street art, and the lost art of hand-drawn lettering. Through these images, his story is told as a designer and consultant to brands ranging from the smallest boutique start-ups to the largest international corporations. Mr Contino has designed an exclusive print for Sunspel’s NY pop up: ‘Going Like The Clappers’ is a whimsical tribute to the iconic London Black Cab.
About Jen Mussari
Jen Mussari is an Illustrator, letterer, fine artist, designer, community member, style consultant, dog sitter (prefers cats), collector of things, swissmisstant, Tattly packer (no, we don’t know what those last two are either), and sign painter. A Proud Philadelphian who left her heart in Baltimore, Jen had “a quick love/hate thing with San Francisco, and is now in the nurturing arms of Brooklyn”. Ms Mussari has designed an exclusive print for Sunspel’s NY pop up: ‘Oh! Blimey’ captures Britain’s greatest bane – and favourite conversation topic – the weather.
