If like us, you’ve noticed a sudden shift in the air then it’s all too clear we are in the final throes of summer. However as a silver lining we’ve brought in our new collection of luxury wardrobe essentials to usher you effortlessly into the new season.
We started the collection studying the colours, textures and fabrics that surround the north and midlands, taking inspiration from the liveliness of those neighbourhoods. These colours have been translated into warm, earthy tones that make up our newest versions of our classic T-Shirts, Polo Shirts and knitwear.
There’s been a real focus on new silhouettes and fabrics to emphasise softness and reinforce our reputation for combining comfort with style. Look out for supremely soft cottons, luxurious wool/cashmere blend sweatshirts and knitwear and our classic fine merino, all key features of this elegant take on laid-back dressing. Our collection has also taken on a more tactile quality with marl yarns that create a beautiful speckled effect, knit stitches that add substantial weight to key knitwear and jerseys, inspired by techniques and garments found in the Sunspel archive.
Each season, the Sunspel archive is an important point of reference for us, for Autumn/Winter 2016, our signature vintage wool was a key focus. The fabric is a fine knitted wool that was originally developed in a cream colour for undergarments in the early 20th century. Since then, this new collection marks the reintroduction of cream, available this season in Henley and Classic Crew.
Sea Island Cotton is another archive fabric, we’ve brought into the new collection. For decades, we’ve been using certified Sea Island Cotton from the West Indies to make the softest, finest and most luxurious cotton underwear in the world. This season, we sourced a Sea Island Cotton yarn to develop a fully-fashioned, fine-gauge knitted T-Shirt and jumper that that can be worn as a base layer or an outer layering piece.
Rounding out the collection, we’ve searched the British Isles for the finest wools to create special incredibly luxurious knits, blazers and jackets including our first winter overcoat using natural un-dyed British wool, perfect for when winter really sets in.
You can find all these and more across Sunspel stores and online.
