With the promise of longer, brighter days laying tantalisingly on the horizon, the time has come to introduce the Sunspel spring and summer 2016 collection.
For the new season, our design team explored the marshland that lays close by to the Sunspel factory in Long Eaton. The watery landscape and varied birdlife that inhabits the area inspired a modern, understated palette of fresh jewel tones and a series of subtle textures and prints.
The collection comprises of faithful Sunspel favourites that have been re-invigorated with these new colours, as well as a host of styles that are brand new for the season.
An emphasis on fabrics is always at the heart of our collections and for this season, denim is a particular focus. For menswear we have brought back the Sunspel selvedge jean that we first introduced last season, and extended our range of casual shirts to include styles tailored from premium Japanese denim and chambray cloths. For womenswear, our denim offerings come in the form of our first ever denim jacket and an easy-to-wear chambray shirtdress that promises to be a close second to a favourite jeans when it comes to wardrobe staples.
For devotees to our signature loopback sweats, we have developed a unique, reverse loopback fabric that makes a feature of the distinctive ‘looped’ texture of the fabric, usually concealed on the inside of the garment. And on the subject of our in-house fabric development, we have extended our Cellulock collection to include a range of mid-weight layering pieces, perfect for navigating the changeable weather as spring blooms into summer.
